Tree of Hope wins the Catholic Social Services Australia (CSSA) Annual Awards

Excellence in Service by an Individual

Margaret Pirotta, the Coordinator of CatholicCare Sydney’s Tree of Hope program, was announced as the 2014 Catholic Social Services Australia Award winner of the Perkins Award for Excellence in Service by an Individual.

Across Sydney, Tree of Hope provides emotional and practical outreach support to people living with HIV, their family and supporters.

Positive Kids – an initiative of Sydney Children’s Hospital Randwick

It is run by the Children’s Hospital in Randwick and they are recruiting for volunteers to help the families have a break when the camp is held at the end of March 2015. Many service users have indicated interest in “giving back” to community and this would be a prime opportunity for that. Please contact Catherine on 0490094268 if you would like further detail.

Love Project – Self-Management Group

The LOVE Project is piloting a “self-management group’ which is about creating discussion in a group setting to inform and encourage healthy active ageing. The aims of this self-management group are to improve knowledge of one’s condition; encouraging participants to develop a care plan for themselves; actively share in decision making; monitor ones own signs and symptoms; manage impacts on physical, emotional social life and adopt lifestyles that promote good health.

We hope this will make it more convenient for you to get your meds. we’re keen to hear what you need from a pharmacy before you’d use the service. We also want to know where community pharmacies would best be located in Newcastle and the broader Hunter-New England area.
